Patch notes for Guilty Gear Strive version 1.43 have been released. This new update will be going live on December 23.
This patch is intended to tide players over until the second challenger of Season 4, Venom, joins the roster as DLC. Considering that 24 out of 29 characters received changes, this appears to be a fairly meaty update.
Universally, combos have been made more consistent as a number of fighters have had their hurtboxes adjusted to prevent instances of them falling out unexpectedly. These hurtbox adjustments have been applied to May, Zato, Nagoriyuki, I-No, Goldlewis, Bridget, Elphelt, and Dizzy.
Additionally, attacks that cause Guard Crush will now deal 25% chip damage across the board. However, it should be noted that this does not apply to any normal moves that don’t cause chip damage.
Individual adjustments have been made for Sol, Ky, May, Axl, Chipp, Potemkin, Faust, Millia, Ramlethal, Leo, Nagoriyuki, Giovanna, Anji, I-No, Goldlewis, Jack-O’, Baiken, Testament, Sin, Johnny, Elphelt, A.B.A, Slayer, and Queen Dizzy.
Needless to say, this appears to be a fairly substantial update, though not everyone is happy with the changes. Regardless, this is sure to shake up the meta in interesting ways until Venom joins the fight sometime in early 2025.
Check it all out below:
• We’ve alleviated the issue where it was impossible to move for a long time when returning to the room after matching in Team of 3 Player Match mode.
• Fixed an issue causing unintended behavior as it was possible to recover health and Burst Gauge via Assist Skills when health reaches 0 or time runs out.
• Fixed an issue causing only Standard rooms to appear in the search results in non-Team of 3 Player Matches regardless of the search options selected.
• Fixed an issue causing the mission to not register as completed when performed with simplified inputs for practice and combo missions.
• Fixed other minor issues with missions.
• Fixed an issue causing the Training Mode damage display to show incorrect information under certain circumstances.
• Removed the entry for “Bit Shift Metron (Level 5 Start0” from Asuka’s Character Specific settings in Training Mode.
• Corrected the description for Asuka’s “Bit Shift Metron” in the Command List.
• Fixed other minor issues and visual problems.
• Throw Clash: Fixed an issue causing throw clash not to occur even when throw is input during the throw clash window when simultaneously overlapped with a hitbox from a projectile, etc.
• Wall Stick, Wall Break: Fixed an issue causing unintended behavior related to Wall Break such as additional Wall Break value gain during combos or changes to the Wall Break conditions for an opponent stuck to the wall under certain conditions.
• Damage State Hurtboxes: Adjusted some hurtboxes while the characters are taking damage. We have mostly expanded these hurtboxes to the front and below to improve problems with combos not connecting. These changes apply to May, Zato, Nagoriyuki, I-No, Goldlewis, Bridget, Elphelt, and Dizzy.
• Guard Crush Attacks: Adjusted the chip damage to a consistent 25% for all attacks.
* This change does not apply to Guard Crush for normal moves that do not cause chip damage.
* The only exception to this is the damage dealt by Ky during Dragon Install.
• Usage Restrictions on Special Moves: Fixed the following issues for certain special moves that have the usage restriction reset upon landing.
* The usage restriction is not reset when performing a Wall Break via certain methods on certain stages
* The usage restriction is not reset after taking damage when it includes an air throw clash.
