Although Guilty Gear has been around for 26 years now, the fighting game series is now bigger than ever before.
Arc System Works announced another record milestone for Guilty Gear Strive today after the game recently passed its third anniversary.
According to the developer, Strive has now reached over 3 million players worldwide, and to celebrate, they released a celebratory piece of artwork depicting the Season 3 characters of Johnny, Elphelt, A.B.A., and Slayer.
Previously, we’d heard the latest Guilty Gear entry hit 2.5 million players in August 2023, so the game managed to push an additional 500,000 copies in less than a year.
This comes following Strive selling 1 million copies after its first season, which made it the first game in the series to reach that status only to continue climbing.

It is important to note, however, that this 3 million is players and not copies sold, so the number counts those who’ve downloaded Strive through Game Pass on Xbox and PC too.

The team previously announced that Season 4 was already in development for Guilty Gear before Slayer even released, so we should be learning more about that either this weekend or later in the month at Evo 2024.
A new 3v3 mode is planned to be added to Strive with the new content, but it doesn’t sound like ArcSys plans to add in the way of new moves or mechanics at this time.
Even after turning three years old, Guilty Gear still managed to pull in an impressive third place in terms of entrants in the final Evo 2024 rankings, so thousands of players are still lining up to rock for heaven or hell.
