Thanks to a leak back on Wednesday we found out a bit ahead of schedule that Guilty Gear Strive would be coming to the Nintendo Switch, but ArcSystemWorks officially revealed the Strive Switch trailer on Friday, tacking on a January 23, 2025 release date.
While it’s exciting news that Nintendo users will be able to get in on the 2.5D Guilty Gear action, the fighting game community can’t help but wonder whether or not the game will receive any kind of graphical downgrades as we saw in the infamous case of Mortal Kombat 1 Switch port.
To be fair, Mortal Kombat 1 is a considerably larger and more resource-intensive title than Strive. We’ll also note that we were quite impressedwhen 2017’s Dragon Ball FighterZ, which has a graphical style much closer to that of Strive’s than MK1, hit Switch consoles.
The footage we see in the trailer looks promising enough, but the jury is widely still out until we get to see for ourselves on our own consoles at home.
All 28 of the game’s characters will be available on the Switch Edition of Guilty Gear Strive, so you won’t have to worry about purchasing the now nearly half of the roster that’s been released as post-launch DLC.
