In the world of online fighting games, it is far too often that we see players who don’t accept their own defeat in the proper way. How many times have you seen a rage quitter pull the plug during a level 3 super animation that was about to win you the whole game?
What’s super rare, though, is the warrior who fully embraces death and takes it in the most honorable way possible. This recent Street Fighter 6 clip from Pochoclo23 highlights a Guile player who, when realizing the fight was over, accepts their loss in respectful (and hilarious) fashion.
The footage was clipped from one of Pochoclo’s recent live streams. In it, the A.K.I. player takes on a Guile online, and when the clip starts we see that there are only about 11 seconds left on the clock. (You can probably already see where this is going…)
Pochoclo sits with the life lead, and after Perfect Parrying the Guile’s neutral jump heavy kick punishes with a quick combo into level 1 super. Unfortunately, due to the scaling of Perfect Parry this punish combo is not quite enough to KO the opponent and leaves Guile with a sliver of health.
With only six seconds left on the clock by the time he gets up, the Guile throws a couple of fireballs from fullscreen before realizing the reality of the situation.
Pochoclo still has about 50% health left here, and at this point Guile would need a real miracle to mount a comeback. The Guile player stops moving for a few moments, and as the clock hits two seconds and comes close to running out, they give off a respectful solute as Guile goes down with the ship and takes his loss with pride.
Naturally, Pochoclo bursts into laughter here as the Guile player exhibited not only a respectful, but manly as hell display as the loss crept in. We salute you too, Guile player, and let you be an inspiration to all of us out there.
This guy is a genius, he lost the match in the most manly way possible
