Hon. Effefiong Nta EKE Former Mayor of Calabar |
CALABAR – A group identified as Concern Calabar Municipality Group, has called on the former chairman of Calabar Municipality Local Government Area, Hon. Effefiong Nta Eke to desist from insulting and defaming the character of the Leader of Calabar Municipality, Chief Felix Victor Idem.
Speaking through an Open letter, the group warned that any insult directed at Chief Idem is tantamount to disrespecting the Governor of Cross River State while reminding Nta that Chief Felix Victor Idem remains the leader of Calabar Municipality after an endorsement by Calabar Municipality stakeholders which was confirmed by the Chief of staff to the governor.
The group which threatened to further expose alleged indiscretions of Nta Eke, warned him against venting his frustrations on Chief Felix Victor Idem.
It added that under Nta Eke’s leadership as chairman of council, the local government, especially traders in the Ika Ika Uqua market, endured hardship due to multiple and illegal taxation practices. They highlighted Eke’s alleged shortcomings as chairman of council, particularly focusing on his inability to bring stability to the Ika Ika Uqua market, which has reportedly been addressed by a local contractor.
The letter, dated Friday, April 12, 2024, indicted Nta Eke and his alleged “puppets,” accusing them of engaging in a campaign of insults and character assassination against Chief Felix Victor Idem, Commissioner for Local Government Affairs. The writers express their dismay at what they perceive as relentless attacks on Chief Idem’s character and leadership.
The letter reads in full:
Attention: Hon Efeffiong Nta Eke
AN OPEN LETTER OF CAUTION
Above subject matter please refer
We write to call your attention and that of your puppets on the latest write ups;
a. “A man Felix Idem, A serial blackmailer”
b. ” A worry to Ponder in CRS”
We have noted with gross dismay your continuous insult, attack and defamation of character on the Leader of our great Party in Calabar Municipality and Commissioner for Local Government Affairs; Hon Chief Felix Victor Idem – Akamba Papa, by you and your cohorts.
Its important to note that Chief Felix Idem is not in any way your contemporary in yesterday’s or today’s politics. You have always been his eran boy until you became the Chairman of council. In your first write up, you have informed the public of Chief Idem’s involvement in revenue collections which is a lie from the pit of your coven. But if you are convinced about your records we would enjoin you to hold on to it so as to present it when called upon as you’ve also informed that there is always litigation for character deformation.
The last we checked Chief Idem mans’ the Office of the Ministry of Local Government Affairs, which regulates the activities of the the eighteen (18) Local Government of Cross River State and would not only face Calabar Municipality even as an indigene.
Its important you and your faceless gladiators note that the Ministry is not just for Municipality but other Local Governments Areas. You can see that at the Local Governments tour carried out by the commissioner for the past weeks.
Therefore we expect you of all people to guide your puppets on the activities of the Ministry as a FORMER chairman of council.
Secondly, you have through your illiterate writers referred Chief Idem as a greedy privileged commissioner who’s over 70 years of age, (God has granted him the life to live up to that with good health and happiness we hope you too live up to that age) Nta today you refer to Chief Idem as “Privileged Person”? You have forgotten when you once confessed to the People of Calabar Municipality that Chief Idem had sometime paid your school fees, even to your tertiary education?. But we are not surprised at your behavior for being an ingrate which is your “stock in trade” and also comes with insults, disrespect and backstabbing.
Obviously, how would you have gone to school without assistance from such a great man who’s name at when you were a child could open whatever closed doors, even after school you were a prison warder and a 404 sales boy at Ikot Eyo.
But not for pleads you wouldn’t have smelt the seat as a chairman, what was your gratification? “backstabbing your helper”.
Being an ingrate as we earlier informed is your stock in trade, we advice the public to be careful about you, especially when you need help from anyone, your antecedents has shown the stock you are made of.
On the Leadership of Calabar Municipality, kindly be informed that seasoned stakeholders at a well attended stakeholders meeting held in January 7, 2024 unanimously selected, agreed and accepted Chief Felix Victor Idem as the Leader, this was capped by 100% yes vote that was duly moved and seconded. To rebuttress on the motion, kindly draw your mind to the meeting you attended, held at the instance of the Chief of Staff to the Governor of Cross River State – Hon Emmanuel Ironbar, who again reechoed it at the stakeholders meeting, that Chief Felix Idem is incharge of Calabar Municipality and will be held responsible if any thing goes wrong, the CoS also informed that this was the instruction of His Excellency Senator Prince Bassey Otu.
Therefore any insult to Chief Idem is an insult to His Excellency.
We need not say a thing about the lies about the Ika Ika Oqua market as claimed, you are only trying to give a good man a bad name, hunger has squashed the stomach of your puppets and now looking for strings to hang on. Note the market has been contracted to a seasoned politician who is better rooted compared to your non indigenes who paraded themselves like stone gods. Today the market has water flowing, light, security and the charges as low as #100 per day, something you could not do as a seating chairman, shame unto you.
In conclusion, we wish to inform the public that after the Governor realised the atrocities carried out by Nta and his cohorts, called for a State Stakeholders meeting held on March 2, 2024 and openly chastised him over the incessant court cases over the revenue of the Local Government which he signed to himself as a contractor for the next four (4)years. The Governor asked that the case be withdrawn, Nta bluntly refused and pretend not to be involved. He further went behind and asked his lawyer Barr Edim Aikpo, a supposed leader of Ward two (2), on April 3, 2024 to refile a case restraining the LGA council from handling the Local Government out bound revenue with a fake name.
This cunning antics of his has given us reasons to ask this pertinent questions.
1. Nta Eke (The Pope of Calabar Municipality), are you the first ever chairman of Calabar Municipality?
2. Is it false that you assigned the revenue to yourself?
3. What would you have done if all other chairmen contracted revenues to themselves like you’ve done?
4. Why are you attacking Chief Felix Idem instead of replying to the allegations raised by the stakeholders of Calabar Municipality?
Nta Eke, your atrocities are getting off hand, your insults are becoming a nuisance to the public. You insulted the revered Traditional institution of Calabar Municipality we kept mute.
Kindly note that we have had enough of you, you have caused us to dig out more things and your promiscuous life you’ve lived. We won’t hesitate to bring them to bare if you do not refrain from your insolent ways.
We will not also hesitate to openly reject and show you the way out of Calabar Municipality, after all you now know you ancestral home and linage.
Enough is Enough, be warned.
