A socio-political group, Youth Coalition for a Better Nigeria have joined former Senate leader, Victor Ndoma-Egba, SAN, calling on the 10th Senate to zone its presidency to the South East.
Leader of the group, Barr. Ekpenyong Akiba, in a statement signed on Thursday, April 20th said, the call became important “for the sake of justice, fairness and equity”
The group also described as unwarranted, attacks on the personality of the former Senate leader over his position, calling on those sponsoring media attack on him to resistsuch temptation immediately.
“Our attention has been drawn to a miserable and primitive media attack against our revered former Senate leader, Sen. Victor Ndoma-Egba, SAN, by a faceless and non existent group, with the name, South South Solidarity Group for Senate President 2023. As a very patriotic, committed and prominent stakeholders in the South South region, we feel compelled to address a few ignorance exhibited by these sponsored elements of political busybodies, whose time and era had since elapsed.
“The group, in that juvenile statement credited to them concocted that former Senate leader contested the 2019 election to become the Senate president. It is important to ask, how did Ndoma-Egba who had not even won election be campaigning to be become the Senate president? This is a lie from the pit of hell.
“They also ignorantly alluded to the fact that the South East region do not deserve to occupy the Senate presidency having done so before. Again, this smacks of gross ignorance. They forgot that parliamentary issues are usually resolved amongst parliamentarians and that it is usually not a regional or sectional thing. In any case, the south south region also produced Sen. Joseph Wayas and the fact that the highest ranking senator from the south south and southeast in the current 10th Senate is from the south east and because in parliamentary business, issue of hierarchy is of utmost importance, it naturally puts the south east at an advantaged position, since there is no law that defines time limit for a region to produce president of the Senate”
The statement described the group as a product of “struggling politicians” calling on them to resist the temptation of dragging the good name of Sen. Ndoma-Egba or be confronted with force resistance.
“We call on the faceless group who are obviously products of a struggling politician to gain prominence to refrain from vomiting gibberish against a man who has gone decaides ahead of all of them put together.
“We want to make it clear that any further attack on the person of distinguished Senator Victor Ndoma-Egab, SAN will be fiercely resisted.”
