Gov Suswan - Benue People Now Appreciate Me

It’s a thing that is common among Nigerian politicians, as the past leader is always better off the current/incoming leader. Have anyone noticed that?

Former Benue State Governor, Gabriel Suswam has said, following failed promises under Governor Samuel Ortom, the people of the state now appreciate what he did during his eight years as Governor.

Suswam, who was speaking at a Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) stakeholders meeting yesterday in Makurdi, lamented the condition of civil servants in the state.

He stated that the economic downturn began eight months to the end of his second tenure but he was able to pay over four months salaries during that period, saying the present administration has been receiving monthly allocation and generating internal revenue (IGR) for the past six months, but has not been able to pay salaries.

“As the governor for eight years I owned salaries for four months because the economy was not good at my last eight months and when I explained to my people.

“The APC told them I was lying and promise Benue people during campaign that the will be paying salaries on 25th of every month but from information I gathered for the last six months salaries have not been paid even though monthly allocations has been coming with an IGR of over N1.5billion monthly. Can our people now differentiate?”
