Over the weekend the Executive Governor of Cross River State, His Excellency, Sen. Prof. Ben Ayade, reportedly plied Oron route on a journey to his home town in Obudu.
This development is coming on the hills of the very deplorable condition of the Calabar-Ogoja federal road. He reportedly moved from the Calabar River to Oron, then from Oron he proceeded to Uyo, from Uyo to Umuahia, from here to Ebonyi, then from Ebonyi back to Cross River where he could then proceed to his Obudu hometown.
Meanwhile, the 240km double carriage superhighway is currently being stalled by a petition from 13 international NGOs to Federal Ministry of Environment on the failure of the state governor to produce an appropriate Environmental Impact Assessment for the said highway.

So should we follow this route whenever we want to travel to Obudu? Have you seen the Calabar-Itu, akpabuyo-Bakassi, Idundu-Oban road? Sorry to say but this isn't the sort of news I want to be reading from your desk.
