The Cross River State Governor, Sen. (Prof.) Ben Ayade has lauded the efforts of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) towards national cohesion,intergration and for unquantifiable value added to the nation in general and the State in particular.
Governor Ayade who stated this through his Deputy,Prof. Ivara Ejemot Esu on the occasion of the passing-out parade of the 2019 Batch A Corps Members in the State at the U. J. Esuene Sports Stadium,Calabar, commended the Corps Members for their contributions to the State’s economy in their various places of primary assignments,adding that the high level intergrity and pious exhibited by the Corps members in the recently concluded Abi/Yakurr Federal Constituency re-run election is very commendable and should be appreciated.
In his words, “your spectacular performance during the last Calabar Green Carnival shows your willingness to support the vision of the State,” as well as the industrialisation efforts of the State Government.
Prof. Esu informed that the peculiarities of youth created a desire and need in the State Governor, for a youth focused Ministry, hence the creation of a Ministry of Youth and Skills Acquisition to meet these peculiarities and priorities towards building youths that are self reliant with a strong collaboration with the NYSC scheme.
He also stated that that State is committed to supporting the scheme as always while admonishing the passing- out Corps members to remain good ambassadors of the State wherever they find themselves.
Also speaking, the Cross River State Commissioner for Youth and Skills Acquisition, Hon. Signor Omang Idiege,lauded the Corps Members who according to him, have “navigated the various nooks and crannies of the State to deliver services to our people irrespective of challenges associated with the terrain” and adjuged them worthy ambassadors of the State while urging them to explore areas of endeavour through the various entrepreneural skills acquired during the course of their service year to earn a livehood within the State and further contribute to her development.
On his part, the NYSC State Coordinator, Alhaji Mohammed Nakamba praised the State’s peaceful and serene atmosphere which he said has provided a conducive environment for the scheme and Corps Members, stating that this was nade possible through the coordinated and strategic efforts of Sen. Prof. Ben Ayade.
He congratulated the Corps Members on the successful completion of their service year and charged them thus: ” as you leave national service today for positions of authority and leadership, ensure you do not forget to borrow a leaf from the administrative and management style of the digital Governor of Cross River State.”
Highpoints of the event was the inspection of the guards of honour and the parade as well as the presentation of certificate of overall best Corps Member to Dr. Innocent Chioma Lynda by the Deputy Governor, Prof.Esu. Also present were: The Commissioner for Sports and Cinematography, Chief Offu Aya; the Sports Commission Chairman, Service Commanders, Directors in the Ministry and a host of other dignitaries.
