The Cross River State Commissioner for Works, Engr Dane Osim- Asu, has stated that Governor Ben Ayade has brought succor to communters within the State by drawing federal government’s attention to intervene on the deplorable state of federal roads in the State.
Engr Osim -Asu made this assertion in his Office in Calabar when the current and former Chairmen of the Nigeria Society of Engineers (NSE) Calabar Chapter paid him a solidarity visit to congratulate him on his re-appointment as the Commissioner for Works and member of the Cross River State Executive Council by Governor Ben Ayade.
The Works Commissioner maintained that apart from the massive infrastructural development across the State, Governor Ayade has attracted federal government attention to several federal roads in the State such as: the Ikom- – Alesi- Ugep road which has been completed, the Calabar – Oban – Ikang road phase 1 and phase 2, the Calabar – Itu road, the Akpet 1 – Mkpani road, Akpet Central- Odukpani road, lkom – Ogoja road, Mbok – Ogoja road and Ikom – Obudu road which is about to be awarded,amongst others.
He thank his professional colleagues for the kind visit and pointed out that the Engineering profession has become so crucial in recent times as it is felt in all spheres of human endeavour and cutting across all fields of studies.
Engr Osim – Asu, also charged them as a proactive professional body to always make meaningful contributions and advice where necessary to ensuring that all projects are effectively and efficiently executed.
Similarly, the Commissioner admonished them to always appreciate what the State government under Prof. Ben Ayade is doing as well as taking opportunity for more training and re-training,adding that Governor Ben Ayade is at the point of completing all his projects and promised that he will never disappoint them for keeping faith with him.
Earlier in a remark, the Chairman of the Nigeria Society of Engineers (NSE) Cross River State chapter, Engr Dr. Joseph Ukpata, on behalf of the other former Chairmen affirmed that the purpose of their visit was to felicitate with the Engr.Osim-Asu on his re-appointment as the Cross River State Commissioner for Works and as one of their own.
Engr. Ukpata appreciated the Governor, Sen. Prof Ben Ayade for finding him worthy to be re-appointed, describing his appointment as a square peg in a square hole.
The Chapter Chairman pledged the Association’s readiness to support him as their very own to achieve greater goals,stressing that he should not hesitate to partner with them for optimal result.s.
In his word, ” the body is ready to offer useful and professional advice where necessary to ensuring that all projects are effectively and efficiently executed to the benefits of the people.
