Rep. Nancy Mace (R-S.C.) said she was “physically accosted” at the United States Capitol on Tuesday by a “pro-[trans] man.” Mace said the alleged attacker was arrested by Capitol police.
“I was physically accosted at the Capitol tonight by a pro-tr*ns man. One new brace for my wrist and some ice for my arm and it’ll heal just fine. The Capitol police arrested the guy. Your tr*ns violence and threats on my life will only make me double down. FAFO,” Mace wrote on X.
According to Fox News, the suspect was identified as James McIntyre, a 33-year-old from Illinois. House division officers and Threat Assessment Section agents managed to locate the suspected attacker.
McIntyre was arrested for allegedly assaulting a government official, Fox reported.
The attack comes after Mace defended women-only spaces, pushing back against some men – sometimes referred to as “transgender women” – who want the right to use women-only restrooms.
