Recently, the Chief of General Staff to His Excellency, the Executive Governor of Cross River State, Mr. Martin Orim reportedly paid an unscheduled visit to St Joseph Centre for the Visually Handicapped, where he donated food items and other materials to the visually handicapped inmates and students.
While the management, staff and students of the centre sang songs of appreciation to the principal aide in the Ben Ayade's administration, Orim's benevolence has not gone down well with a section of keenly observant social media users who found expression in the person of one Kazeem G Babatunde.
It was one Utande Emmanuel who reported the incident on behalf of Chief of Staff Martin Orim. Babatunde chided Orim for donating such meager item on Utande's wall being such a principal figure in the present state administration. In his words, 'What an embarrassment, such pictures should not a allowed on Facebook, how can you take a (bag of rice and tissue paper) and call that benevolent and philanthropy. Such a disgraceful gesture from a Chief of Staff'.
When the disappointed Babatunde was frowned upon for his acerbic remarks against Orim's philanthropy by one PDP loyalist in the state, Ajie Paul Abang Abang, Babatunde retorted again in this fashion: 'I did expect some sort of justification from your likes mr educator Ajie Paul Abang Abang let me add to your teaching with regards to GIVING:
(Lesson 1)You can't give what you don't have. (Lesson 2) When you give with your right hand your left hand should not be aware. Such minor gifts from a Chief of Staff should not be celebrated, it's a shame get that right'.
'Look down on this page and see what the market women came with when they visited your oga and compare it to what your so call oga gave to the less privilege. #People who give don't go on Facebook to talk about it', Babatunde added.
