Yesterday, 19 April Cross River cyberspace witnessed a hash tag, #Give OgojaLight! that went viral courtesy of the activities of Prince Thomas Abi Jr. The Ogoja-born social commentator was decrying the power outage in his local government area of origin that has lasted for over a month.
He had to put a call through social media platform to prominent politicians like Hon. Jarigbe Agom, the Honourable Member representing Ogoja in the House of Representatives; Hon. Peter Odey, the Honourable Member representing Ogoja State Constituency in CRSHA; Madam Rita Agbo Ayim, the Executive Chairman of Ogoja Local Government Area; Hon. Timmy Tom, the Honourable Commissioner for Power in CRS; and Barr. Oshie Joe Abang, and all these political bigwigs are incidentally his friends.
Calabar, the state capital, has also been experiencing an unpalatable degree of blackout as there has been a slump in power generation and supply from the national grid. The reason for that of Ogoja is currently unknown.
