There will be a new champion in the NBA, that is a fact impossible to deny, the Milwaukee Bucks were eliminated this Sunday after being completely dominated in Game 7 of the Eastern Conference Semifinals series by the Boston Celtics who defeated them by a score of 109-81, this does not mean, however, that all champions have been below their expectations.
And clearly such is the case of the team’s best player, and for many the best in the entire NBA, Greek power forward Giannis Antetokounmpo, who, despite the painful defeat, set a milestone that looks very difficult to match.
The Giannis Antetokounmpo milestone
During the seven-game series between Milwaukee and Boston, the “Greek Freak” totaled 237 points, 103 rebounds and 50 assists, with which Antotekounmpo has inaugurated the 200/100/50 club in a single playoff series, no one had done it in the past.
In Sunday’s game, held at the TD Garden in Boston, Massachusetts, the 27-year-old Athens native was the lone bright spot for Milwaukee as he racked up 25 points, 20 rebounds and nine assists, however, the Bucks missed two opportunities to advance to the Eastern Conference Finals against the Miami Heat.
The Bucks’ problems
The problem for Giannis in Game 7 was the effectiveness in shooting from the field, as he only hit 10 of the 26 shots he attempted from the field (38.5%) and that low efficiency was almost a carbon copy of the entire team, which only hit 33 of 90 shots from the field in the game (36.7%).
It is worth remembering that Milwaukee came to be ahead 3-2 in the series and that in Game 6, which was held last Friday, May 13 at Fiserv Forum, Antetokoumpo had his best numbers despite the loss, recording 44 points, 20 rebounds and six assists.
