The senatorial bids of the incumbent Senator representating Cross River South at the National Assembly, NASS and the Senate candidate of the People’s Democratic Party, PDP for the Cross River South Senatorial District, Mr Gershom Bassey, Thursday, allegedly suffered serious setbacks NEGROIDHAVEN has confirmed.
The Director General of the Gershom Bassey Campaign Organisation and the new Chairman of the Cross River State Water Board Ltd, Mr Ekpo Adah Esq, yesterday as part of the their campaign itinerary visited Ikot Eyo in Akpabuyo LGA to campaign for the principal, Sen Bassey, but, reports from a highly confidential source reveals that the said community refused the lawmaker’s campaign train entry, humiliated them and sent them parking.
According to him, ‘Gersh sent his campaign DG to Ikot Eyo, he did not go in person, he sent Ekpo Adah his campaign DG; on arrival, they were well dealt with and pursued.’
The masculine anonymous source said that the campaign trail returned yesterday night with heads bowed, and looking like domestic birds over whom hot water was poured.
However, Mr George Ofem the Chief of Staff to Sen Bassey has denied the development. According to him, it was not a campaign, just a consultative meeting with a group in the community.
