Manchester United goalkeeper Andre Onana has not been having the season one would expect after his very impressive exploits in The Champions League last season.

This campaign started off in horrendous fashion as Onana made error after error. In fact one would argue his mistakes were at fault for United’s elimination from The Champions League in the group stages.

He has however found his feet in the second half of the season delivering impressive, dominating performances only let down by overall below-average team play and schoolboy defending.

To be fair to him, its is not easy fitting into the gloves of one of the best shot stoppers ever in David De Gea who defended the United badge for ten years strong.

Former Man United captain Gary Neville has come out in support of Onana acknowledging his mixed season altogether.

Speaking on Monday Night Football as one to watch, Neville was heavily mocked for his pick by fellow pundit Jamie Carragher but Neville explained his pick perfectly.

“Onana was the one to watch and has been the one to watch. A one to watch is Manchester United’s goalkeeper having just lost David De Gea who they have had for 10 years. That is certainly one to watch,” Neville explained.

Neville also acknowledged Onana’s shortcomings especially in the Champions League but was quick to admit he has massively improved in the second half of the season albeit he is still prone to the occasional error.

“I would say probably in some ways, he has scored par. When he started off he struggled, in the Champions League he struggled, obviously,” Neville acknowledged

“He has had a decent second half to the season, made the odd mistake but shown personality and character. I think he needs that second season inside of him to come to terms with it. There is something there, ” he showed his support to Onana.
