Furr named second runner up, Miss Philanthropic at Huntingdon College

On Saturday, March 8, 11 Huntingdon College students took to the Ligon Chapel stage to compete for the title of Miss Huntingdon with Andalusia High School graduate Mollie Furr placing second runner-up and named Miss Philanthropic.

The contestants were evaluated by outside judges on interview, on-stage introduction, on-stage question, self-expression, poise, and presentation of their philanthropy.

Linley McNew of Montgomery, Alabama was named Miss Huntingdon 2025. Emma Grace Samples of Gadsden, Alabama was named First Runner-Up, Furr of Andalusia, was named Second Runner-Up and Miss Philanthropic.

Miss Philanthropic is named for the contestant who raises the most money for her philanthropy. Furr’s philanthropy was promoting empowerment for female athletes and was awarded with the over $9,000 that was raised.

Tristin Robinson of Dothan, Alabama was named Fan Favorite by the crowd at the pageant and Blair Wyrosdick of Kinston, Alabama was honored by her fellow contestants as Miss Congeniality.

Furr is a sophomore majoring in Biochemistry Pre-health. She is a member of Chi Omega sorority and a member of the Huntingdon softball team.

Miss Congeniality Blair Wyrosdick of Kinston is majoring in Cell Biology Pre-health and Psychology.

She is a member of Alpha Omicron Pi sorority, in the Order of Omega, Phi Eta Sigma, and Omicron Delta Kappa honor societies, an SGA Senator, student recruiter, and a Huntingdon Cheerleader. Her philanthropy was the Ronald McDonald House Charities.

Also competing for the title included was Katie Henderson, a freshman from Enterprise.

The Miss Huntingdon Pageant is an annual event through the Office of Student Development. Scholarships are awarded to Miss Huntingdon, First Runner-Up, and Second Runner-Up.

The pageant staff director was Chris Mayer, student directors were Ariel Dixon, Miss Huntingdon 2023 and Kaylee Russell, Miss Huntingdon 2024. Linley McNew was crowned by Kaylee Russell, Miss Huntingdon 2024. The Masters of Ceremonies for the pageant were Huntingdon students; Tyler Bentheimer, Richie Hicks, and Callie Shiver.
