Full List of Programme for the 56th Independence Day Anniversary

Every October 1st, Nigeria celebrates her freedom from the British Colonial master, and this freedom was gain in the year 1960. Ever since then, the country has set aside a date which is 1st October to celebrate, the date is also declared as public holiday across the country. 

With joy, Nigerians celebrate this day with all their hearts and merry and tarry til the setting of the sun. But with the economic situation the country is passing through, Nigerians are into mourning instead of celebrating. Some of them are not happy since they can no longer buy for themselves what they’ll use to celebrate, some are thanking the government for this day, whereas many are in anger and strides as they said this government is the worst of all.
Well, whether nay or yes, Nigerians will still celebrate their freedom day which is scheduled to be holding as arranged below…

​His Excellency, President Muhammadu Buhari has approved the programme of events to commemorate Nigeria’s 56th Independence Anniversary. The details of the programme which is indeed low-key are as follows:

PROGRAMME, DATE, TIME, VENUE AND ATTENDANCE ARE AS FOLLOWS:


1. Inter-denominational Thanksgiving Church Service:
Sunday, September 25, 2016 at 4.00 pm
National Worship Centre, Abuja – OPEN

2. Public Lecture and Jummaat Prayers:
Friday, September 30, 2016.
11.00 am – 12.50 pm and
1.00 pm – 2.30 pm respectively
National Mosque, Abuja – OPEN

3. Presidential Change of Guard:
Saturday, October 1, 2016 at 3.00 pm
Forecourt of the Presidential Villa, State House, Abuja
