On behalf of my family and myself, I wish to express our deepest and most heartfelt appreciation to everyone who stood by us during the passing and burial of our beloved father and patriarch, Professor Ibiang Oden Ewa, who passed away in May and was laid to rest on August 9, 2025.
Losing a father is one of life’s most profound sorrows, but your outpouring of love, prayers, visits, calls, messages, and presence reminded us that we were not alone. In our moment of grief, you embraced us with compassion and upheld us with your strength.
We are especially grateful to His Excellency, Senator Prince Bassey Otu, Governor of Cross River State, and his dear wife, Bishop Eyoawan Otu for their kindness and moral support; the Sole Administrator of Rivers State, Rear Admiral Ibok Ette Ibas (Rtd), and his dear wife, and the Governor of Imo State, His Excellency, Senator Hope Uzodinma, for their love and support.
We also extend sincere thanks to the Deputy Governor of Cross River State, Rt. Honourable Peter Odey, the Speaker and Members of the Cross River State House of Assembly, serving and past Members of the National Assembly, the State Chairman and executives of the All Progressives Congress (APC), my colleagues in the Cross River State Executive Council, Council Chairmen, Heads of Government Ministries, Departments and Agencies, the Obol Lopon and the traditional institution, friends, well-wishers, and other stakeholders who travelled from far and near to stand with us. Our gratitude also goes to the religious community and the Media for their invaluable support.
Your presence and solidarity honoured our father’s memory in ways words cannot fully express. You stood by us, offering a shoulder when we needed it most. Your kindness, prayers, and words of encouragement provided comfort and solace, helping to ease our pain.
As you return to your homes, may the Almighty Lord reward you abundantly, grant you journey mercies, and may you never lack the kind of support you so generously gave to us.
From the depth of our hearts — Thank You.
Hon. Oden Ewa
