From Incineroar to Pichu and Big D's Ice Climbers, the characters and specialists using them at Smash Ultimate Summit 6 are going nuts

After spending so many years supporting multiple competitive gaming communities, Beyond The Summit is unfortunately going to be closing their doors, but they’re sending off their signature tournament format off with a monumental bang.

The Smash Ultimate Summit 6 is providing arguably the wildest bracket we’ve witnessed in a long time for Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, and the character specialists in attendance putting in so much work with fighters we don’t typically get to see.

Although there were 2 previous Summit champions still in the top 8 between LG|Tweek and CR|ProtoBanham, the real stories from this weekend’s event has to come down to Big D’s success with Ice Climbers and WF|Skyjay coming in as a last-minute competitor to show everyone why Incineroar should be feared.

Out of the 16 players invited to this final Summit, 14 of them used different main selections from each other with only Diddy Kong repeating.

That carries over to top 8 as well with 8 different mains filling out the top of the bracket along with a couple of secondaries.

The Smash competitive meta has been more rewarding to top players who could play 2 or 3 characters, but we’re seeing the character specialists having the most wins with only the previous 2 winners pulling out multiple fighters in their matches for top 8.

Big D was able to take down one of the favorites to win the whole event in ZETA|Acola, and it looked so convincing that Ice Climbers double hits and desyncs may be worth exploring more as a potential counter for Steve.
