The European Championships in Germany are well underway, with the first round of group matches already being played with excitement and anticipation going into the second round of fixtures.
So far we’ve seen the tournament’s fastest ever goal scored from Albania’s Nedim Bajrami against Italy in just 23 seconds, a demolishing of Scotland by Germany 5-1 in the opening game of the tournament, and a total of four own goals already at the tournament.
Going into the tournament England and France were the favourites to come out on top, with both teams having won their first games vs Serbia and Austria respectively.
Now France look to take on the Netherlands on 21st June, with all attention on the game.
A number of players are putting aside the thoughts of contract extensions and transfer offers to focus on their international responsibilities, however one of France’s stars is suspected of stalling on contract talks in order to wait for an offer from United.
Reports from Italian publication Tuttosport suggest that Juventus’ Adrien Rabiot has not been forthcoming to discuss negotiations around a contract extension.
The French midfielder was a star for Les Bleus in their first game against Austria, winning 1-0, being one of the squad’s top performers.
The 29-year-old is in his final days with Juve, with his contract due to come to an end at the end of the month, with risk of the Frenchman leaving with no club lined up.
However, Juventus are worried that the midfielder is waiting on an offer from United to decide whether he enters contract negotiations with the Serie A club.
Despite having links to the Red Devils since Erik ten Hag arrived at Old Trafford, United have not made any move for the Frenchman and with the clubs aim of signing younger players to rejuvenate the squad, it’s unsure whether any such offer will be made.
The club is looking for solutions to long term success, and signing older players at the end of contracts, such as recently with Casemiro, have only been successful for one season and then petered out, needing another new solution.
