The government of Cross River State in the leadership of Governor Ben Ayade has always considered the health and well-being of her people by making health a priority as they have created the Cross River State Primary Health Care Development Agency (CRSPHCDA) and others to help support the already intact Health Ministry. This in turn has boost the entire state in terms of health due to the availability and adequacy of good health measures.
Primary Health Care Centers (PHCs), General Hospitals, and many more had been rejuvenated in the state, having that sparkling and friendly look that all desires. This was achieved because of the interest by the state governor since he pledged his allegiance to serve the people.
Apart from the General Hospitals, PHC’s, the Ministry of Health has partnered with a lot of external bodies like USAID, fhi360 and others as there are now Free Medical Checkup points across the city of Calabar and beyond.
Calabar Reporters then verge in, and this is what we found;
One of our correspondent who went in for a Checkup was briefed by a staff who explained verbatim what they do during the free medical Checkup. “He said, they run a checkup on HIV/AIDS, Blood Pressure (BP test), Malaria test, Typhoid test, etc. It only takes about 2 minutes, he said l”.
What we so is to test you, then council you after the result, give you free drugs or refer you to the General of government hospitals if need be. We do not charge, it’s free of charge, the health agent added”.
And they did exactly what they said according to Calabar Reporters correspondent, which was even faster and more accurate.
If we can recall, Calabar Reporters had earlier on reported news about the state government through Prof. Ben Ayade to provide lifetime Health Insurance for all Cross Riverians for just N1000 only. The Governor made it known when he signed the bill of appropriation on Tuesday 30th of August, 2016 which was endorsed by the Cross River State House of Assembly (CRSHA).
Mind you, this free medical check up had long been ongoing before the signing of the state insurance bill.
The Free Medical Check is being carried out in various communities across the city of Calabar as we report. The locations includes; Big Qua by Stadium, Ikot Effanga, Marian, Atimbo, Ikot Omin, Ikot Ene-Obong, Uwanse, Edibe Edibe, Mbukpa, Anantigha Eta-Agbor, etc.
