Foundation pledges to take out 10,000 children out of streets in South East Nigeria

A humanitarian foundation, De Imperial Philanthropic Family (DIPF) has pledges to take out ten thousand children out of the streets through education sector across the south eastern states of Nigeria.

The DIPF National President, High Chief Dr. Darlington Nwabunike, gave the pledged during the official launching of the Foundation’s third phase of its scholarship initiative for Junior Secondary 1 (JSS1) students in both public and private schools across the five Southeast states/2025 DIPF Extraordinary Annual General Meeting held in Okija, Anambra State on July 4, 2025.

The five states comprises; Anambra, Abia, Enugu, Imo and Ebonyi state respectively.

Speaking further during the event, Chief Nwabunike, said the initiative was part of the foundation’s corporate social responsibility.

According to him, “this is a powerful continuation of the Foundation’s mission to “eradicate poverty through education,” the De Imperial Philanthropic Family (DIPF) has officially launched the third phase of its scholarship initiative for Junior Secondary 1 (JS1) students in both public and private schools across the five Southeast States.

“Our plan is to take out ten thousand children out of the streets and take them back to school.

This year’s phase is an extension of the ₦500 million scholarship initiative first launched in 2023. An additional 250 students will be added to the existing list, bringing DIPF’s total reach to 750 scholarship beneficiaries across the Southeast region.

“With the launch of this third phase, DIPF reaffirms its unwavering dedication to transforming young lives in Southeast Nigeria. By combining financial support, transparent selection, and a clear poverty‑eradication mission, the family is steadfastly helping children stay in school, secured academically and build a brighter future and that the beneficiaries would be selected after a screening process which ascertained their academic ability, Nwabunike explained.

Also speaking, Vice‑Chairman of the DIPF Education Committee, Chief Agbalanze Ifekudu, emphasized that Education being the bedrock of every society, we are out to assist that child out there with quality education for a better future.

On his part, Dr. Frank Igbojindu, Chief Executive Officer of Best Brain Contest and official DIPF Scholarship Consultant, assured stakeholders that the scholarship exercise as the previous ones conducted will be free, fair and just for all and sundry.

He also expressed deep gratitude to the sponsors faith in educating the youth.

He further noted that the 2025 DIPF scholarship is open for all Primary Six Pupils that will be in JSS1 by September 2025, adding that the application form is open for all for Free. No application cost is attached. Notifications will be sent to all applicants for the dates and venues of the DIPF scholarship examination.
