The Cross River South Consultative Forum (CRSCF) has taken a significant step toward enhancing institutional maturity and strategic guidance by inaugurating its Elders Advisory Council. This council comprises distinguished statesmen and technocrats representing each of the seven local government areas within the Cross River South Senatorial District.
The announcement came during a high-level meeting held on Monday in Calabar, where CRSCF Chairman Hon. Eyo Nsa Ekpo, Esq., emphasized the importance of the council as “a turning point in consolidating collective leadership and wisdom in the pursuit of regional equity, good governance, and strategic development.”
Hon. Ekpo highlighted that advisory councils are essential in both corporate and civic organizations to provide tested insights, preserve institutional memory, and guide executive decisions with foresight. He affirmed that the CRSCF’s adoption of this model ensures its mission for equity, justice, and balanced regional politics is grounded in deep consultation and intergenerational experience.
The newly formed council will serve as a non-executive body, offering valuable guidance on critical political, economic, and developmental issues impacting the Southern Senatorial District of Cross River State.

Forum Leadership Commends the Step
The Secretary of the Forum, Hon. Charles Uno Atu, also emphasized the importance of anchoring the Forum’s advocacy in institutional processes that promote consultation, tradition, and wisdom, rather than reactionary politics.
The Chairman, Eyo Nsa Ekpo, further stated that the Elders Advisory Council will serve as a buffer of experience, acting as a moral compass and sounding board on emerging matters, including zoning, governance, and peacebuilding across the senatorial district.
“The South is rising—deliberately and strategically,” he said.
The Cross River South Consultative Forum (CRSCF) has been a vocal civic platform championing zoning justice, regional development equity, and transparency in governance decisions impacting the Southern Senatorial District. This latest development further formalizes its operations and is expected to shape the tone of political consultations ahead of the 2027 election cycle.
