Former Super Eagles striker, Brown Ideye has completed his move to Nigeria Premier Football League giants, Enyimba until the end of the season.
The 36-year-old has been without a club since leaving Kuwaiti side Al Yarmouk two years ago, he has now made a sensational return to the NPFL.
Ideye started his professional career with now-defunct Ocean Boys in 2006 before departing for Neuchâtel Xamax in Switzerland in 2007.
He has enjoyed a successful career, which has seen him play in France, Ukraine, Greece, Spain, Turkey, and England, he last played for Al Yarmouk in Kuwait, where he scored four goals in eight appearances.
Enyimba’s Sporting Director, Ifeanyi Ekwueme confirmed Ideye’s signing on Tuesday.
He said: “Yes, the talks have been going on for a while and we completed it yesterday.
“He will be with us until the end of the season and we believe he will bolster our team’s attack as we compete in the league and the continent.”
Ideye is expected to help the People’s Elephants in their quest to win the NPFL title for the 10th time, and also to bring continental glory to Nigeria.
He was part of the Super Eagles squad that won the Africa Cup of Nations under the late Stephen Keshi. He scored Nigeria’s second goal in their 4–1 semi-final win over Mali and played in the 1–0 win over Burkina Faso in the final.
The former West Brom forward joins the likes of Ahmed Musa, and Shehu Abdullahi as former Super Eagles players, who currently play in the Nigeria Premier Football League.
Ideye is expected to make his Enyimba debut against Sunshine Stars in Aba on Wednesday.
Enyimba currently occupies the eighth position on the log with five wins, six draws, and two defeats to boast of 21 points.
