A former bodyguard of popular singer Kanye West identified as Jonathan Monroe has filed a lawsuit against the popular American rapper for failing to pay his wages when due.
At an agreed-upon hourly fee of $30, Monroe was employed by Kanye West in August 2021 to provide adequate security at the rapper’s Malibu, California house.
However, Monroe claimed to have worked lengthy hours for the musician, ranging from 36 to 50 hours per week, but he claims Kanye West has never paid him.

The security guard further stated in court filings that Kanye West fired him in October 2021 after he voiced concerns about unpaid compensation.
In his case, Monroe is requesting punitive damages for the rapper’s failure to pay the agreed-upon amount as well as restitution for missed wages and interest.
The recent $21 million sale of West’s Malibu property—a substantial decrease from the property’s $53 million selling price—has brought this legal dispute to light.
