Manchester United are drawing ever closer to sealing a deal for Patrick Dorgu this month, with a strong left back needed for Ruben Amorim.
The Denmark international has been considered for United since the start of December as a strong contender to fit into Ruben Amorim system.
His versatility across both flanks makes him a strong asset for any squad, with Amorim utilising attacking wing-backs in his tactics.
Dorgu has reportedly verbally agreed personal terms with United, however, The Red Devils are yet to agree a deal with Lecce to secure his move.
Lecce are holding out for £35 million (€40 million) plus add-ons, which United are yet to agree to.
However, The Red Devils have another option on their doorstep that could be a cheaper option to Dorgu.

Ruben Amorim could still trigger Alvaro Fernandez’s buy-back clause
This summer saw Manchester United part ways with Alvaro Fernandez Carreras, a talented young left-back who made a permanent move to Benfica after a successful loan spell last season.
The Portuguese side bought the star for £7.6 million including add-ons, however with the youngster continuing to show potential, United included a buy-back clause.
This means that United would be able to re-sign Fernandez at a currently unknown reduced rate, but the clause is only open until 2026.
Fernandez has been vital for Benfica, with three goals and four assists in 30 games. His contributions have helped the club fight for the the Liga Portugal title, only three points behind league leaders Sporting.
They’re also still able to qualify for the knock-out round of the Champions League and remain in the Taca de Portugal.
This week saw him feature in Benfica’s starting line-up in the Champions League facing Barcelona.
Despite Benfica’s 5-4 loss, the defender made an incredible showing for the club, even getting an assist, setting up Vangelis Pavlidis.
The talent that Fernandez is routinely showing could see United look to their former defender as a capable, yet cheaper option to fix Amorim’s left-back problems.
