A former Commissioner for youths and sports in Cross River State, Comrade Asu Okang has been appointed into the Nigerian Olympic Committee as a member of the Marketing and Sponsorship commission.
According to information reaching our newsroom, in what will be a landmark event in the annals of the Olympic Movement history in Nigeria, the Nigeria Olympic Committee (NOC) has concluded plans to formally inaugurate its various Commissions next week in Lagos.
The composition of the commissions in line with the provisions of the International Olympic Charter and NOC Statutes. Also, these subsidiary governing bodies are not only advisory, but equally essential in the promotion of Olympic values.
President of the Nigeria Olympic Committee, Engineer Habu Gumel stated that the formal inauguration is in line with the vision of the current board.
Gumel stating further, that the NOC administration has adopted a broad-based approach in the appointment of these Commissions, in line with the vision of expanding the scope of our operations to cover vital departments of Olympism.
Mr. Wahid Enitan Oshodi chairs the Ethics and Good Governance Commission.
The Marketing and Sponsorship Commission is headed by Dr. Ademola Are while Engr. Simon Nkom is the Chairman of Sport and Environment Commission. Sport & Environment commission.
Also, the Liaison Commission have Mr. Olabanji Oladapo as Chairman, while Dr. Musa Oshodi heads Medical & Scientific Commission and Prof. Florence Adeyanju chairs Women and Sport Commission, Dr. Ibrahim Abdul Chairman chairs Sport for All Commission. Others include Mr. Olumide Oyedeji who chairs Athletes Commission and Otunba Segun Runsewe heading Olympic Education & Culture commission while Chief Jonathan Nnaji chairs Olympafrica Development Commission and Chief Tonobok Okowa is chairman Technical & Development Commission
