Canelo was an early starter as he began boxing at just 13-years-old, but it seems he wants to give his son even more of a head start in the sport.

Footage emerged recently of the Mexican in the gym on the pads with his three-year-old son, teaching him an uppercut, left hook, right hand combination.

Canelo also takes the time to teach his son the technique of how to throw a right cross, by turning over his shoulder into the shot.

It is not uncommon to see sons following in the footsteps of their fathers in the boxing world and some have seen considerable success.

There is the example of Tyson Fury who has completely outshone the achievements of his father John Fury, who didn’t even win a central area title, while ‘The Gypsy King’ has claimed every belt there is in the heavyweight division.

Another prominent duo, who could be fighting each other soon, are Chris Eubank Jr and Conor Benn, whose fathers Chris Eubank Sr and Nigel Benn had a fierce rivalry back in the early 1990’s.

As for Canelo, he can’t spend too much time training his son, as he needs to get to work himself to prepare for his upcoming trilogy bout with Gennady Golovkin on September 17.

Coming off the back of only the second defeat of his career against Dmitry Bivol in May, Canelo will be looking to bounce back in style against his long-time rival Golovkin.

The pair have met twice previously, as the first fight ended controversially in a draw, with many fans and pundits alike believing ‘GGG’ had done enough to win, while the rematch saw Canelo take a majority decision victory.
