Five times NetherRealm Studios characters got nerfed so bad people stopped playing them

The twins Ketchup and Mustard continue to crank out enticing Mortal Kombat and Injustice content as their latest video explores a handful of times characters were nerfed into not being popular anymore.

This should be distinguished from something like “the harshest nerfs of all time” as that’s not exactly the idea here, but rather when developers took away the one or two tools that made characters interesting or fun to play.

Balancing fighting games is no easy task (and that’s still understating it) as there are so many layers and levels at which things can go awry, and the ensuing issues that stem from each of these epicenters can be numerous.

When a character has abilities that’re obviously over-tuned, regulating them in such a way that nerfs their oppressiveness without also reducing how fun and enticing they are to play isn’t always what happens.

One of these characters stands out as the most egregious example as they went from being obviously the overpowered and broken best pick in their game to, overnight, becoming the conclusively worst character in their game.

Some of you probably already suspect whom I’m talking about, but you’ll have to check out the full video below to find out. Let us know in the comments if there are any honorable mentions you’d add to this list once you’ve watched.
