First look at updated Tekken 8 character select screen including the game's first DLC fighter

Tekken 8’s first DLC character, Eddy Gordo, isn’t set for release until sometime this Spring. While that might be a little ways off, Bandai Namco held a presentation late last night in which they discussed some of the upcoming content and updates set to be added to the game here in the near future.

During this Tekken Talk show, developers such as director Katsuhiro Harada and producer Michael Murray sat in and shared information on all of the latest Tekken 8 happenings. As an added treat, the devs also showed off Eddy in-depth, and with this, we were also given our very first look at the updated character select screen that features the upcoming DLC fighter.

Tekken 8 has 32 playable characters that have been available since launch. The current fighter select screen is organized into three rows of 11 slots, with the center slot in the middle row being designated to random select.

With the updated character select screen, we see that Eddy has been added to the top row on the left hand side. This places him right next to Claudio and officially begins the first wave of DLC characters.

Now that we see where Eddy has been placed, we have to imagine that the remaining three DLC characters will be placed on each corner of the current set up to retain its symmetry. Though, it’s also possible we’ll see the second DLC fighter on the far right side of the top row when they’re added to the game, and then the following two characters added just underneath the first two.

Tekken 8’s first season of DLC characters will bring four new contenders into the mix. Eddy Gordo is set for a Spring release, while the other three are slated to follow suit in the Summer, Fall, and Winter, respectively.
