Street Fighter 6 has been a pretty solid hit for the competitive and casual audiences since its release last year, but what’s going to happen when said competition is moved to a different sort of game?
The first episode of the new SF6 reality show hosted by fighting game legend Justin Wong, NXT UP, has dropped where the contestants are revealed with a peek at the action facing them ahead.
Out of over 200 applicants, Wong had to whittle down the choices to only eight contestants where we get to witness some of their entry videos to state their case as to why they should be picked.
As was previously revealed, this show isn’t meant for already top competitors, so you won’t be seeing the likes of FLY|Punk or XSET|iDom battling it out in the show itself.
You may still likely, however, recognize some names across the FGC up for contention here including Zaferino, Mothman, Narukami, and Fem!Shep, who was the hero in Justin’s recent impossible Zangief challenge, among others.
These final eight will need to compete in challenges (presumably both inside the game and out) to determine MVPs and players up for elimination until only one remains.
The winner will receive $10,000 USD as well as free travel and entry to three major tournaments plus other prizes.
From the preview at the end, it sounds like the first challenge will include facing off against JWong himself in a set of SF6 with new episodes apparently set to release every two weeks.
