Final character stat breakdown going into Capcom Cup X for all qualified players where almost half them are using only 1 of 3 fighters

Final character stat breakdown going into Capcom Cup X for all qualified players where almost half them are using only 1 of 3 fighters

Just barely over a month from now, Street Fighter 6 will have its first world champion declared at Capcom Cup X where the winner walking away with $1 million USD (before taxes of course).

As we’ve been tracking the qualifiers all season, we’ve seen the players punch their tickets as well as the characters they’ve used to get there, and with the final regular Capcom Pro Tour event wrapped up, we now have the full breakdown on representatives that’ll be there (minus the Last Chance Qualifier obviously).

Since the last time we covered the stats, there was the conclusion of the CPT US / Canada Midwest finals where Sayff took home the prize, which also meant that another Ken main is coming to Capcom Cup.

That wasn’t quite enough for the Shoto to catch up with Luke in the top spot, but he did almost close the gap though that also meant there were quite a few fighters who we likely won’t be seeing at all when the all the chips are on the table.

With 9 Luke mains at Capcom Cup, they’ll account for nearly 20% of the playing field while Ken’s 8 represents 17% and Dee Jay’s 6 players as almost 13%, which basically means half of the competitors will likely be using only those three characters out of Street Fighter 6’s potential 20.

Beyond them, Juri, Chun-Li, Guile, JP and Dhalsim were the only other main characters to have at least two representatives at Capcom Cup though they all technically have three or more.

That leaves Cammy, Rashid, Blanka, Marisa, Ryu and Zangief as those with solo players making the cut.

And unfortunately, six characters in total didn’t manage to get any spots with Kimberly, E. Honda, Lily, A.K.I., Jamie and Manon.

Although top 8’s for many CPT events this season did have more variety, the actual character diversity among the initial winners is probably going to be disappointing for many fans hoping to see many different match ups at the highest level.

There is still a chance at least that some of these character choices may change by Capcom Cup considering some of these CPT tournaments were won up to six months prior to that, and a lot can change in new fighting games during that much time.

If you’re wondering who actually qualified for Capcom Cup, we just covered that as well breaking down all the competitors as well as the event they won, their home country and fighters they used in their victory.

The final contender will be determined at the Last Chace Qualifier event where over 500 may sign up with the action running from February 16–18 while the main Capcom Cup tournament is set to run from February 21–25.
