FG inspects 3 Investments in Calabar ahead of final Commissioning

A presidential team from the Federal Ministry of Industry, Training and Investment, has visited the State to access and report on the readiness for commissioning of the Cross River State Textile and Garment factory, The Calabar International Convention Centre as well as the Monorail.

Conducting the team round various departments of the facilities, the Deputy Governor, Professor Ivara Ejemot Esu, OFR. explained that the team is in the State at the instance of President Mohamadu Buhari as a prelude to the visit of Mr President for the final commissioning of the investments.

At the Textile and Garment factory, Professor Esu informed that the factory has already received contracts for production of uniforms and other accessories for some military and paramilitary services, adding that government intends to make do with local content to generate employment.

Inspecting facilities at the Calabar International Convention Centre and Monorail station at the Tinapa resort, the Deputy Governor asserted government readiness to commission the Investments for public use.

In separate remarks, at the Textile and Garment factory, as well as Calabar International Convention Centre, members of the team expressed satisfaction with the state of the three investments visited. The leader of the group Barnabas Jatau described the initiatives as the pride of Nigeria and an alternative income generating effort in the post oil boom era.

The presidential officials averred that such investments of great vision will effectively cushion the effect of fallen oil revenue and promote business and wealth creation in the manufacturing and service sectors. They promised to help attract entrepreneurs in commerce and conferencing.
