The future of Jadon Sancho remains uncertain despite his loan move to Chelsea including a £25m obligation to buy if the club finishes above 14th in the Premier League.

When the deal was struck last year, it was widely expected that the winger would not return to Manchester United.

However, it was reported on CentreDevils yesterday that Chelsea have a clause, and are looking to withdraw from the agreement under certain conditions.

The Blues are exploring whether to pay a “significant fee” to cancel their obligation to sign Sancho permanently.

As things stand, Chelsea remain committed to the original terms.

Although discussions over their long-term plans for the 24-year-old continue.

However, Ben Jacobs via his livestream on Playback TV has reported that the club has the ability to send Jadon Sancho back based on performance-related criteria.

The total cost of doing so would be a minimum of £6m, rising to just under £10m depending on wage coverage and a flat fee.

Despite this uncertainty, both Chelsea and Sancho are understood to be happy with how the loan spell has gone so far.

Whether Chelsea see Sancho as a long-term option for the winger spot, remains to be seen.

Sancho’s performances have certainly come under scrutiny from Chelsea fans.

The Englishman produced a fairly promising start to the season, picking up goals and assists.

However, his form has since tailed off having gone several games without making an impact.

It would certainly come as a surprise if he does remain a United player, come the start of next season.

Sancho’s work ethic has often come under question during his time in Manchester.

Whether he’ll be suited to Ruben Amorim’s system, is also another matter up for debate.

The likelihood is Sancho will not be a United player in the long-term.

That is regardless of what Chelsea decide to do.
