Farmer jailed one year for attempted assault in Plateau

A Jos Magistrates’ Court on Monday sentenced a 24-year-old farmer, Zaidu Mohammed, to one year in prison for attempted assault.

The Magistrate, Shawomi Bokkos, sentenced the convict after he pleaded guilty to attempted trespass and assault.

Bokkos, however, gave Mohammed an option of N50,000 fine.

Earlier, the prosecutor, Insp. Ibrahim Gokwat, told the court that the case was reported at the anti-kidnapping unit by a team of officers on August 2.

The prosecutor said the convict trespassed and attempted to attack his older brother after he took some substances suspected to be Indian hemp.

He added that the offence contravened the provisions of Plateau State Penal Code Law.
