Love it or hate it, Mortal Kombat 1 effectively acts as a reboot for the series, especially with the story that it tells. Things certainly ended in an awkward spot, but it seems that NetherRealm Studios is planning to announce details about the upcoming story expansion at this year’s San Diego Comic-Con.
It seems that one fan, The IneXustente, decided to recreate a certain scene in Mortal Kombat 1 using stop motion animation featuring Legos. Despite the brutal nature of Mortal Kombat, it’s interesting to note that The IneXustente chose a tame scene to recreate.
This scene takes place right after Johnny Cage is able to apprehend Kenshi, who is after Johnny Cage’s mounted sword. Following a knock on the door, Johnny Cage seemingly believes that he’s about to hand Kenshi over to the authorities for his attempted robbery.
Instead, Johnny finds Liu Kang, Sub-Zero, and Scorpion at the door. By this point in the story, Liu Kang is seeking to recruit champions for the next Mortal Kombat tournament, similar to how Thunder God Raiden did in previous timelines.
Of course, Johnny ends up being very surprised. It’s also funny to note that Bi-Han is looking extra angry in this scene, which is fitting considering how the Lin Kuei Grandmaster behaves throughout the story of Mortal Kombat 1.
As for Liu Kang, even though he’s just a Lego man in this scene, it can be observed that his eyes are glowing, just like in Mortal Kombat 1. Before Johnny Cage can finish dropping the f-bomb, Liu Kang is successfully able to take control of the conversation.
It’s a very brief scene, but cool nonetheless. Check it out below:
