FALCONETS HANDED EASY GROUP AS THEY WERE DRAW ALONGSIDE JAPAN, CANADA & SPAIN IN U20 WOMEN'S WORLD CUP

Nigeria U20 women’s team have been ‘easy’ tough opponents for this year’s Fifa U-20 Women’s World Cup slated for Papua New Guinea.

Nigeria will face Japan, Canada and Spain in Group B of the preliminary round of the 2016 Fifa U20 Women’s World Cup.

The draw ceremony which commenced 6.30 pm (Nigeria time) in Zurich saw the Peter Devdebo’s girls handed an easy pairing and they would kick off their campaign against Japan.

Canada finished runner-up to the Americans in the Concacaf U-20 Women’s Championship, losing 1-0 in the final at San Pedro Sula, Honduras.

The Canadians are making their seventh trip to the Fifa U20 Women’s World Cup. Their best finish was as host in the inaugural championship in 2002 when they finished as runners-up to the United States of America with Lindsay Tarpley scoring an extra time goal.

Nigeria face Japan in their first game of the competition on November 13 at the Sir John Guise Stadium, Port Moresby.

Hosts Papua New Guinea, meanwhile, face a series of intriguing challenges against Brazil, Sweden and Korea DPR in Group A. They will contest the tournament’s opening match against Brazil on 13 November.

The eighth edition of the championship between 13 November and 3 December 2016.
