Erik ten Hag’s job as Manchester United manager has been under serious threat this season as his Red Devils are grossly underperforming producing a new low in terms of performance and team play every week.
As is the way with world football, if you don’t produce results you get replaced and naturally, a whole host of managers have been linked with replacing the Dutch manager at Old Trafford.
Ipswich Town manager Kieran McKenna, who was a first team coach at United under Mourinho and Solsjkaer, has also been linked with the job as centredevils covered.
Mckenna has been doing an amazing job with the Tractor Boys and he is now one point away from getting them consecutive promotions from League One into the Premier League.
Having taken over just two years ago, he has taken Ipswich from bottom of League one to one point away from automatic Premier League promotion-an incredible job by all standards.
Speaking on the Daily Briefing, transfer expert Romano gave his two cents on the potential of McKenna taking over at Man United from Ten Hag.
“Two good managers on the up [Marco Rose and Kieran McKenna]. Two excellent managers, but at the moment I’m not aware of contacts with Man United or Chelsea,” Romano said.
“So let’s see what’s going to happen with these two clubs in general, not just for these two managers at the end of the season. But at the moment they are not speaking to these two managers,” he commented on Man United’s and Chelsea’s managerial situations.
“For McKenna there is a lot of interest and appreciation, but at the moment it’s not something really concrete. So I think we have to be patient on that one,” he concluded.
INEOS have between now and the end of the season to make a very huge decision on who they trust to lead their project, whether it’s ten Hag or otherwise.
