Manchester United are desperately scouting Europe to sign a clinical striker in the coming months, with Victor Osimhen finding himself towards the top of the shortlist.
The Red Devils currently are reliant on Rasmus Hojlund and Joshua Zirkzee as strike options, with Marcus Rashford’s transfer saga demoting him from the squad.
Unfortunately for Ruben Amorim, the pair are yet to establish themselves as prolific strikers, resulting in the need for another option.
Osimhen and Sporting’s Viktor Gyokeres are now the front runners to set themselves up at Old Trafford as the number one striker.
Both are without a doubt in form right now, with Gyokeres previously shining under Amorim, having currently scored 27 goals with five assists in 26 games. Whilst Osimhen has played few matches this season, with 15 appearances, his contributions of 12 goals and five assists are rivalling Gyokeres’.
However, a recent update from Fabrizio Romano via GiveMeSport may have snuffed United fans’ hopes of seeing Osimhen at Old Trafford.

Fabrizio Romano denies solid talks between Manchester United and Victor Osimhen
Romano has confirmed that United are not in concrete talks with Osimhen or his team, despite recent rumours claiming they are ahead of a January transfer.
The only way United could sign the striker in January is by triggering his release clause with Napoli for Osimhen to return from loan in Turkey.
Another concern for United is his £9.1 million per year salary, with United trying to lower their salary demands.
Romano commented: “I’m not aware of concrete talks taking place, despite links with Man United.
“The situation remains quiet at the moment; the only way to change it is triggering the clause into his Napoli contract (he’s on loan at Galatasaray) and also reaching an agreement on salary close to €11m net per season. Not an easy one.”
