Manchester United is continuing its squad overhaul following the successful acquisitions of Joshua Zirkzee and Leny Yoro during the transfer window.
The club’s recent INEOS takeover, which saw the consortium acquire a 25 percent stake in the Red Devils, facilitated these signings as Sir Jim Ratcliffe aggressively pursued the duo.
United has identified several targets, and among them is Manuel Ugarte. The Uruguayan midfielder, who previously attracted interest from other English clubs and notably Chelsea, is now a significant target for United. Although Ugarte’s move to PSG from Sporting Lisbon last season was competitive, PSG is now open to selling him.
Negotiations to begin for Manuel Ugarte between PSG and Man Utd
Ugarte has agreed to personal terms with Manchester United, according to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano. The two clubs are set to negotiate this week to prevent any delays before the transfer window closes in September. Romano shared updates on his Playback channel, emphasising that Ugarte’s desire to join United has been clear. He stated:
“I already gave you the main update, and that is Ugarte said ‘yes’ to Manchester United.
“I told you three days ago that Manuel Ugarte wants to go to Manchester United and has agreed personal terms, but it now depends on the clubs.
“I have always told you in recent days that it will take some time. Next week, we will see how the conversation between Manchester United and PSG will go – but we will have to wait for the clubs to agree.”
While a final transfer fee has yet to be determined, it is anticipated that around £50 million would be sufficient to secure Manuel Ugarte’s move to Old Trafford. The Red Devils’ midfield saw challenges last season with Casemiro’s inconsistent performance, and adding Ugarte would be a strategic enhancement to their roster.
The next steps in this potential transfer hinge on the discussions between Manchester United and PSG, which are expected to unfold in the coming days. The clubs aim to reach an agreement promptly, ensuring the deal is finalized well before the transfer deadline.
