Manchester United are in desperate need of defensive reinforcements this summer and its precisely why they are being linked with lots of top centre back talents.
One of these talents is Crystal Palace and England defender Marc Guehi.
The Times just last week reported that Manchester United and Arsenal were both interested in making a move for the 55 million pound defender.
Speaking to CaughtOffside, transfer guru Fabrizio Romano indeed confirmed that Guehi was of interest around the Premier League and is one to keep an eye on come this summer.
“Some fans have asked me again about Marc Guehi, who was in superb form for Crystal Palace before his injury. The latest reports involve interest from Arsenal and Manchester United, but I can’t confirm these links yet,” Romano said.
The Italian journalist only confirmed there was interest from some clubs but cautiously didn’t confirm the Arsenal and United links.
“Still, Guehi has concrete chances to leave Crystal Palace this summer. I can’t confirm clubs yet, as it’s still really early – the interest is there from several clubs, but it’s nothing really concrete yet.” he concluded.
The 23 year old has proper impressed at Selhurst Park ergo all the interest and it will be interesting to see what happens in the summer especially if he makes the Three Lions squad for the Euros.
Manchester United could very well do with a player of his quality especially considering the sheer uncertainty around the defensive unit come next summer.
Raphael Varane will be out of contract in June and there is no confirmation of renewal talks and it is possible the club will accept another bid for Harry Maguire like they did last summer.
Lisandro Martinez has struggled with injuries all season and has barely featured this campaign.
If a deal were to be struck, Guehi’s 55m pound valuation would eclipse the 50m pounds Palace received for Aaron Wan-Bissaka as the club’s record sale.
