United’s need for a striker this summer is ever growing thanks to the departure of Anthony Martial, leaving Rasmus Hojlund as the sole striker at Old Trafford.

Over recent weeks, the Red Devils have been looking at a range of options, with Wolves’ Mattheus Cunha, Barcelona’s Vitor Roque, LOSC Lille’s Jonathan David and Bologna’s Joshua Zirkzee.

Reports claim that the most likely to join United is Canadian striker Jonathan David, with United advancing talks with Lille over their first team striker.

In Italy, United are facing stiff competition from a number of clubs to sign the Dutch international Zirkzee, with the striker having a £34 million release clause that could be triggered to avoid negotiations with Bologna.

Meanwhile an initial bid for Barcelona’s upcoming striker Vitor Roque with a value of £29.6 million has been rejected, with the Spanish club holding out for bids of £50.6 million, matching their cost of buying him from Athletico Paranaense.

Whilst United have reportedly held talks with Cunha’s representatives, the likelihood of the Brazilian moving to Old Trafford is low with the striker happy at Wolves for the time being and the Wolverhampton based club placing a £63 million price tag on their key man.

However recently, sports journalist Fabrizio Romano has provided an update on United’s interest in Hoffenheim striker Maximillian Beier.

Two weeks ago, it was announced that United had joined Nottingham Forest and Brentford in enquiring about the 21-year-old German international. Beier experienced a successful first season as a key member of Hoffenheim’s first team, grabbing 16 goals and three assists in 33 games, helping the club secure seventh place in the Bundesliga.

Talking on The United Stand’s YouTube channel, Romano commented that Chelsea had also enquired about the young striker, with both Chelsea and United gathering information on the 21-year-old as an option to join either club as a second striker. However, since this time it appears as though neither club have decided on what route to take with the young star.

Beier’s recent call up to Germany’s Euro 2024 squad, making an appearance off of the bench in Germany’s 1-1 draw to Switzerland, replacing Bayer Leverkusen’s Robert Andrich in the 62nd minute, will no doubt be in the mind of the player as an opportunity to stand out to those teams interested in his services to show them what he can do.
