It’s looking likely that Manchester United will be securing the future of Amad Diallo at the club by the end of the month.
Amad is in the final seven months of his contract as United try to avoid losing him to a free transfer at the end of his contract.
The Ivory Coast international is really finding his feet under Ruben Amorim, being converted to a right-wing-back and excelling.
In three games under Amorim, the 22-year-old has supplied three assists to help contribute to two wins and a draw.
Speaking after the Everton match where United won 4-0 thanks to two Amad assists, to Marcus Rashford and Joshua Zirkzee, Amorim praised his young star. The new manager commented: “He was really good again. He’s in a great moment, but that moment starts with the group. So, I just take advantage of Ruud’s [van Nistelrooy] work with Amad.”
He continued: “Amad was really good defensively and really good attacking and he has to continue to play like that. You could feel at the end of the game that he was really, really tired, so we also have to manage that as he increases the physical ability.”
However now, Fabrizio Romano has revealed that Erik ten Hag was the main problem behind Amad Diallo not signing a new contract.
The reason for the delay with Amad Diallo signing a new contract
Speaking on his YouTube channel, Romano commented that Amad’s situation under ten Hag and his coaching staff was the main reason for no deal being done until now.
Amorim’s comments on Amad show what the new manager thinks of him and as such the winger is looking likely to sign a new contract by the end of the month.
Amad has previously expressed his desire to stay at Old Trafford, which now makes more sense as to why no new contract was agreed previously.
Speaking back in September, Amad made his feelings on the matter very clear, saying he wants to remain with the club.
Amad explained: “[My footballing dream is] to win more trophies with the club. I want to win a lot of trophies. Champions League, Premier League, everything. I want to win with this club, that is my dream.”
