We have many hilarious incidents transpiring in the corridors of power in our dear state. The most recent one was the appointment of an academic and legal luminary, D. C. Enamhe, to be responsible for regulating scrap metal in Cross River State, something like saying, 'Congratulations, you are the Official Aboki in Cross River'. Hmmmmmmm…
Now, we have a sitting LGA Chair in Cross River, Hon. Abubakar Ewa of Boki, celebrating a so-called '26km Super East West Road', linking Irruan, Ubang and Eastern Boki. The road reduces the usual 3 hours journey to 45 minutes.
While the 'feat' could pass for something commendable, however, the ironically interesting thing about the celebration is that the much touted supernal character of the road is that it's an earth road. Did I say, an earth road, yes I did!
Again, the Chair went to his social media account to confess that commitment was the key to their success. And even appreciated God for its completion.
This present press out fit is asking political office holders in the state, especially the Executive Chairman of Boki LGA, Abubakar Ewa, to desist from official mediocrity.
It is even more disturbing when one take into cognizance the fact that a prominent Boki critic, Barr. Joseph Odok, had made some recommendations on how a more befitting road can be constructed via concerted community effort and harmonisation.
