News has just broke that Dan Ashworth has now left Manchester United after only five months at the club.
His appointment from Newcastle United was clouded in controversy as Ashworth linked with Omar Berrada, who was still on garden leave at Manchester City, arranging a move to United.
To secure the move, United paid Newcastle £3 million in compensation, a dramatic reduction from the £20 million they initially requested.
However, the former sporting director has now departed the club after meeting with Omar Berrada.
The news comes as Ashworth and Berrada met following United’s 3-2 loss to Nottingham Forest at Old Trafford.
Whilst the meeting was reportedly mutual, the relationships with Ashworth “had not been rosy” for several weeks, as reported by Samuel Luckhurst.

The operational structure at Manchester United after Dan Ashworth departs
Now, CentreDevils can reveal an exclusive that an emergency meeting is currently underway at the highest level, with the primary focus being the implementation of a new organisational structure.
This links with Samuel Luckhurst’s report which claims a source has commented: “so many cooks and egos in the structure that it felt like it was destined to have someone leave”
As such, The Red Devils are calling a meeting to discuss how the directors will operate going forwards.
Alex Crook has commented that Ashworth felt “side-lined” from some big decisions at United, having to report to Omar Berrada and Sir Dave Brailsford who called the shots.
It’s expected that United will want to resolve the situation as quickly as possible, with Ruben Amorim trying to turn the squad around on the pitch, needing the support of the executive board off the pitch.
