Manchester United’s commitment to youth development remains a key focus, with promising talents arriving from both the academy and external signings.
The likes of Leny Yoro, Chido Obi, and Ayden Heaven have all been given chances, reinforcing the club’s “If you’re good enough, you’re old enough” philosophy.
However, one highly-rated youngster recently departed, opting to leave United in search of a clearer pathway to first-team football.
Sekou Kaba’s move to Cardiff raised eyebrows.
But he has now spoken out about his decision, citing greater opportunities elsewhere.
Sekou Kaba speaks on why he chose to leave Manchester United
Speaking to Africa Foot, Sekou Kaba explained why he felt his new club provided the best platform for his development.
“Several clubs were interested in me, including Stoke City, Swansea City, and Norwich City,” he said.
“But after discussions with my management team, we felt Cardiff was the best option.
“And we have absolutely no regrets about that decision.”
His departure came amid increased competition in United’s academy.
Particularly in his position, which has been bolstered by new additions and emerging prospects.
Instead of staying and competing for minutes, he saw a more immediate pathway to senior football in the Championship setup.

“I chose Cardiff because it offers me a more direct path to the first team,” he added.
“I’ll be playing with the U21s rather than the U18s, which is a real plus for my progression.”
United’s attacking ranks at youth level have become increasingly stacked.
Especially with multiple promising forwards either developing within the system or gaining experience on loan.
It was always going to be a tough challenge to break through.
Ultimately, he made the decision to take his future into his own hands.
His ambition should be respected, and United will undoubtedly wish him success as he takes this next step in his career.
