Football fans are not the easiest bunch of people to please.
One bad performance and many will label players and clubs are the worst thing on God’s green Earth.
And criticism is often more vocal than praise.
Manchester United players will certainly be more aware of that than anyone in recent times.
Typically, most players will just shrug off any criticism that comes their way.
But at times, it spills out into something altogether unsavoury.

A recent example of this is from CONMEBOL Copa America 2024.
In the semi final between Uruguay and Colombia, the game was overshadowed by scenes of Uruguay players jumping into the crowd and fighting Colombia fans.
Liverpool striker Darwin Nunez was one of those caught up in the madness.
Another incident has now occurred in South America at a club level.
This one, however, involves a former Manchester United star.
Sergio Romero, an Argentina goalkeeper who was signed by Louis van Gaal and played at Old Trafford from 2015 to 2021, is in hot water after angrily reacting to provocation from his own fans.
Romero was playing for Boca Juniors in his native homeland as they lost 1-0 to rivals River Plate.
Boca had been reduced to 10 men in the 112th minute of the game after Cristian Lema reacted poorly to VAR disallowing an injury time equaliser for his side.
But that was only the start of the madness.

In an altercation caught by TNT Sports, an angry Romero is caught on camera heading up to the terraces and squaring up to some upset Boca fans after the final whistle is blown.
The former United ‘keeper is restrained by Boca representatives as he has an angry exchange with the fans.
One of the fans even puts his hands on Romero’s chest and pushes him back.
Boca’s substitute goalkeeper Leandro Brey then attempts to pull Romero away and the camera goes to fans trying to climb over the barricade and continue their verbal battle with the Boca Juniors captain.
Romero had to be held back by a combination of Boca officials, fans and his fellow team-mates as he continued seething.
After the game, Sergio Romero apologised for the way that he reacted.
“When the fan insulted me, I couldn’t think at the moment and I lost my mind,” Romero said.
“He cursed me so hard that he just found me.
“I was leaving and I lost my mind and I went back to look for him.
“I offer my apologies to the fan who insulted me because it is his right.”
Despite Romero’s apology, the scenes were shocking to say the least and has to be seen to be believed.
