The immediate past Managing Director of the National Inland Waterways Authority (NIWA), and former chieftain of the All Progressive Congress (APC) who recently resigned his membership of the party Dr. George Moghalu has defected to the Labour Party (LP).
According to Dr. Moghalu in a statement he shared on his verified Facebook page, said his decision to join the Labour Party was based on a thorough evaluation and consultation with family members, community leaders, supporters, and other critical stakeholders.
He expressed his conviction that the Labour Party aligns with his core values and principles, particularly its dedication to the welfare of citizens.
Dr. Moghalu was warmly received by the Labour Party executives, including Ward Chairman, Mr. Chijioke Okeke, who praised him as a patriotic technocrat and a down-to-earth individual.
“I resolved to join the Labour party (LP) after a thorough evaluation and careful consultation with members of my family, community, supporters and other critical stakeholders of the State, reaching to the conclusion that Labour Party is better suited to champion my ideals and principles as the party aligns with my core values and commitment as well as multifaceted perspective, with a profound dedication to the welfare of citizens.
“I pledged to work harmoniously with the leaders and chieftains of the party in forging a better political culture that unites, inspires, and serves the greater good.
“This event was witnessed by Uruagu Nnewi Ward 1 Chairman and his executives, Nnewi North Local Government Party Chairman, the 2023 Nnewi North Labour Party House of Assembly Candidate, some critical stakeholders of the party, friends and political associates who were present to formally welcome me to Labour Party”.
