Ex-49ers Patrick Willis, Ricky Watters, Anquan Boldin in Hall of Fame mix

By Cam Inman

A trio of former 49ers are semfinalists once again for the Pro Football Hall of Fame.

Patrick Willis has reached that stage in his fourth straight year of eligibility, while Ricky Watters and Anquan Boldin also are among the 28 modern-era semifinalists.

It’s Watters’ third time in the past four years to become a semifinalist, and Boldin is a semifinalist for the second time in as many eligible years.

Willis was a finalist for this year’s class that included the induction of former 49ers’ defensive lineman Bryant Young.

First-year eligible semifinalists are offensive linemen Jahri Evans and Joe Thomas, defensive lineman Dwight Freeney, linebacker James Harrison and defensive back Darrelle Revis.
